“My girl, my girl, my girl, talking ’bout my girl…” *Ahem* Sorry, I tend to break into song quite often. You’ll learn that about me.

Anywho, let me ramble on to my favorite girls’ names list!

• Romilly Angela “Romy”
• Susanna Margaret “Susie”
• Priscilla June “Rissy”
• Evangeline Anita “Eva”

Wildcard Loves:

That’s a lovely list and Penelope Ann is a winner although Romilly seems a bit out of place. Unless I’m missing something? It’s traditionally a surname, yes? Personally, I think it sounds very sweet. I support Angela. I rarely see anybody propose it.

Yeah, I’ve been told Romilly looks a bit odd with the rest of the names in my list — A tad too unisex or modern sounding. But Romilly is my exception — I’ve just fallen in love with her!

As for the surname aspect, I am what some people would a call a baby name extremist, but I see no problem with surnames as long as they are real names themselves. (Bennett, Porter, Harrison, Parker, Cooper, Clark, Taylor, Calvin, Wesley, Tyler, Spencer, Ryan, Delaney, Cassidy, Kelly, Shannon, Jackson, Carson, Lincoln, Austin, Cameron, Shelby, etc.) Only once it gets to McFarland and Sweeney will I butt in about surnames as first names. I’m lenient when it comes to that.

As for Angela, that’s my sister’s name! Every middle name is a family name — I’m really anal about that when it comes to names on my list. I don’t think I’ll ever put a middle name on my list that doesn’t have some sort of meaning.

I like your list! It’s nice to see middle names that mean something and aren’t just thrown in to sound good or take up obligatory space.

I’m curious though, what names can Vera be a nickname for?

I’ve looked into lots of names with ‘ver’, like Verity, Guinevere, Clover (a new find; a possibility), Verena/Verina, Véronique, or Verona. (Personally, Verity, Guinevere, and Véronique seem like the best and most likely candidates. But I love Vera itself just as well; it’s one of those names that can be a nickname or a perfectly great formal name.)

I like Isadora but not with Karen.
    Caroline Maria is pretty.
Luna Katherine, Tallulah Anne are too.
    Penelope & Ione are lovely.
